Monday Musings - IKEA

Monday morning started out with a trip to IKEA with Ashley Cauble.  FUN  We trekked out to a Chicago suburb and entered the welcoming doors of IKEA.  We knowingly entered the maze and began the feast of eye candy.  Model rooms . . . kitchens . . . hardware . . . lighting . . . dishes . . . linens . . . rugs . . . frames . . . beds . . . desks . . . tables . . . chairs . . . an endless array of color and creativity.


IKEA really is a maze.  They are smart marketers and they wind you through the store so that you see everything and decide that there are some things you surely can not live without.  Around every corner is something new and fun. This is not a place for a quick run in and buy.  Get comfortable - you will be here for awhile. 


BUT . . . there are short cuts.  Every so often you see an opening to go directly to a different part of the store without walking all the way around.  It's tempting - you can cut straight through to find the bed of your dreams or just the right kitchen.  

Sounds great - but what are you missing?

I think the Christian life is a lot like that.  There are sure times when a short cut sounds good.  Lord - can you just send me straight to godly character with a side of JOY?  Could you give me patience - IMMEDIATELY!  Can't I know your Word and have Your wisdom without studying and developing a daily relationship with You?

We are on a journey that takes us on a long road.  Along the way, there are some great things to see and experience.  There are life changing moments and incredible opportunities.  There are some hard things too.  There is pain and suffering that we would not choose.  Character is built and integrity is tested.  BUT - there is beauty, there are promises and encouragements in the Word, there is friendship, there is family, there is purpose, there is ministry and there is Jesus - who ties it all together.

So - take your time.  Walk slowly and soak up all that the Lord has for you.  Allow Him to fashion you into His child.

  Turn the corner with anticipation. 

There is more than you could ever imagine ahead.
